Rivers Academy Graded "Outstanding" 2015

Rivers Academy West London Is Outstanding

‘This is an outstanding school.’ This is how the first line of the Ofsted report for Rivers Academy West London reads following their recent inspection on 18 and 19 March 2015. In the 80-year history of the institution that was formerly known as Longford Community School, this is the first time it has been graded with the highest possible judgement by Ofsted. In addition to the overall outstanding grade, each of the categories of ‘Leadership and Management’, ‘Teaching and Learning’, Behaviour and Safety’ and ‘Achievement’ were also judged to be at the highest possible grade.

Executive Principal Paula Kenning said:

‘The entire team of staff and governors are exceptionally proud of the tremendous hard work that has led to this fantastic outcome. The report reads incredibly well and is testament to the exceptional learning and achievement that takes place in our academy every day. We are particularly proud of the way that Ofsted describe our students – citing them as extremely polite and courteous and very eager to talk about their school. Their behaviour is described as exemplary in the report.’

Rivers Academy West London became an ‘Aspirations Academy’ in 2013, joining a small group of schools within the ‘Aspirations Academies Trust’. The group are set to open a ‘Space Studio School’ on the Rivers Academy campus in September 2015 – a small school for 14-18 year olds specialising in science and maths. This will be the fourth school in the West London district of Aspirations Academies, which also includes two primary schools - Oak Hill Academy and Oriel Academy. The group’s ambition is to provide outstanding education for children in the area all the way through from age 2 to 19.
