National Careers Week at Magna Academy 1-5 March 2021

Magna Academy is celebrating National Careers Week (NCW) with its very own Careers Festival 2021.

The Festival has been designed to give our students daily activities and opportunities across a broad spectrum of interests.

The employment market is only now emerging from the shock of a pandemic and its consequences will be felt for some years to come. So, it is vital that every single student is offered immersive experiences to help them define choices for their future.

Each day this week will have a different theme and each theme has been extensively underpinned by the kind support of employers and industry.

Monday

Day One is all about Labour Market Information, with input from Siemens, Lush and other employers.

Tuesday

Day Two is a Digital and Creative Day. This is supported by some brilliant work from Zoe Bywater of Belvoir Bedford, who took time out of her busy schedule to work with industry contacts to produce informative insights into a variety of careers.

Wednesday

Day Three is a Vocational Day that will show the practical industries in Dorset and the pathways to reach them

Thursday

Day Four covers Science & NHS Jobs, including a webinar with astronaut Tim Peake and an amazing opportunity to go live with Medical Mavericks in a session after school.

Friday

Day Five is our Emergency Services & Forces Day, in which Marines from HMS Drake in Devon will be running a live PT session for all students and staff.

The Festival is a fantastic week of opportunity for all students at the academy. We believe it will stimulate real curiosity about the huge diversity of opportunity available to them and will offer hope and excitement for their future, whatever they aspire to do.
