There were plenty of tears of joy for students collecting their GCSE results at Rivers Academy West London and its sister school, Space Studio West London.

This year’s Year 11 cohort were the first to sit GCSE exams following the Covid-19
pandemic which saw them endure two years of disturbance to their learning as a result of the lockdowns put in place. And it appears their hard work has paid off. 

At Rivers Academy West London in Tachbrook Road, Feltham, 65% of students achieved a Grade 4 or above in English and Maths, up from 63% in 2019 when they last sat GCSE exams. 

And 50% of students achieved a Grade 5 or above for English & Maths up from 40% in 2019. 
At Space Studio West London (SSWL) in Letchworth Avenue, Feltham, 76% of students achieved Grade 4+ and 52% of students achieved Grade 5+ in English and Maths, 80% of students passed Maths and 88% passed English.

Andy Morgan, Principal at SSWL, told The Hounslow Herald: “We are delighted with the GCSE results this year, they are the best examination results in the Academy’s history.”

Yaccer Saffar was one of the top performing GCSE students at Rivers. The 16-year-old achieved 5 Grade 9s and 5 Grade 8s. 
He said: “​I want to say a huge thank you to all my teachers and the support staff at Rivers who helped me achieve these results.  They believed in me every step of the way, even when I found it hard to believe in myself. Thank you!”

Luke Homer, Acting Principal at Rivers, said: “Our Year 11 students have worked with such determination and we are incredibly proud of them, particularly as they have navigated with us such astonishing times through the pandemic. Students have benefited from learning in an Academy with a whole team of staff who are steadfast in ensuring every child reaches their fullest potential, they have learned from teachers who are experts in their field.”

Top performing students at Space Studio West London also secured impressive results: 

Leo Mudura achieved a Grade 9, 5 Grade 8s, 2 Grade 7s & a Distinction Mohammed Sufi achieved a Grade 9, a Grade 8, 6 Grade 7s & a Distinction
Aaron Stachurski achieved four Grade 9s, 3 Grade 8s & two Distinctions.     
Maddison Hopkins achieved six Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s, 1 Grade 7 & and a Distinction*

Polya Dimotrova secured a Grade 8 and 7 Grade 7s. 
Daniel Alexandrov achieved four Grade 8s and four Grade 7s.
